In what has to go down as one of the best finishes in years, Alpha Delphini emerged on top in the Beverley Bullet after trading at 40 in running on Betfair. Despite just over half a length covering the first six home, the frustrating Muthmir (1.29) in third was the only other runner to be backed at odds-on.

Newcomer Khafoo Shememi showed excellent battling qualities to hold off the strong challenge of Mazyoun in the 6f maiden at Newmarket after trading at 150. The runner-up was done at 1.07.

Promising must now be the best juvenile maiden in training after going agonisingly close to collaring Kilmah in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood. Richard Hannon's filly, who traded at 1.13, had been matched at 1.57 when runner-up on her debut at this track.
