>>Alice Springs landed a huge gamble in the Tattersalls 250th Year Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, having been backed through the day to 5-2 second favourite from a morning 13-2.

The money continued to pour in on course, where she opened at 9-2, and she traded at no bigger than 4.1 in running on Betfair.

Usherette drifted from a best-priced 4-5 in the morning to 11-10 and disappointed with sixth of seven. She was one of five market leaders who failed to make the places in the first six races and that led to a Placepot dividend of £4,871.50 to a £1 stake.
