The Punt Acca: Lee Sharp's three horse racing tips at Ayr and Bath on Tuesday

Obito (3.00 Ayr) 

David O'Meara's three-year-old has progressed nicely throughout the season and is still improving. He finished second on his latest start, a race in which the winner was allowed to dictate a slowly run race, and that left him unable to reel in the leader. As the sole three-year-old in this contest and carrying top weight, he has likely not reached his full potential and should be a few pounds ahead of the handicapper.

Liamarty Dreams (3.30 Ayr) 

Has yet to win this year and has seen his mark drop considerably, but his latest run was a much better performance despite finishing eighth. He made the running for most of the contest before fading late on. A proven performer on soft ground, with some of his best efforts coming under such conditions, he could prove tough to peg back this time if similar tactics are adopted.

Item (4.22 Bath)

Five go to post in this novice, but it looks to be a match between two debut winners, Item and Blue Courvoisier. Preference is for the Andrew Balding-trained Item, who impressed on his debut at Kempton when pulling three and a half lengths clear of his rivals in a slightly more taking performance than his main opponent. Well bred as a son of Frankel and holding a Futurity entry, he is clearly held in high regard.
