The Punt Acca: Charlie Huggins' three horse racing tips at Newton Abbot on Monday

Centara (1.56 Newton Abbot)

The seven-year-old has three and a half lengths to find with Breaking Cover based on last month's meeting over course and distance. Breaking Cover has won again since, which means that Centara meets him on 8lb better terms and that should be enough for the selection to reverse the form. Paul Nicholls' progressive chaser had won his four previous starts – including three races at this track and trip – before that defeat last time and he can get back on track here. 

John Barbour (3.06 Newton Abbot)

This bumper and novice hurdle winner has had wind surgery since running in a £100,000 handicap at Sandown in April. John Barbour had some smart form last season, including when second to Listed runner-up No Questions Asked at Ludlow in February. The six-year-old should have enough ability to make a successful reappearance, despite his lack of race-fitness.

The Height Of Fame (4.50 Newton Abbot)

Keiran Burke's mare is only 4lb higher than when successful by 17 lengths at this track and trip in July 2024. The Height Of Fame has been running respectably in Class 2 company recently, hitting the frame on both starts this season. The eight-year-old was a distant fourth in a Listed race last November and she can enhance her form figures of 1214 at this course and distance.
