Steel is short for Classic

ROMEO STEEL, who has raced unbeaten through his last two Category One competitions, tops the betting at 6-4 with Entain firms Coral and Ladbrokes for Sunderland’s PGR Classic.
Trained by Patrick Janssens for breeder and owner Dave Firmager, the East Anglian Derby and Steel City Cup champion will bid to extend his winning run to seven when he lines up in the second of six heats of the 450m event on Friday night.
Slingshot Poppy, who won the Arc Puppy Trophy at the track in June for Irish trainer Pat Buckley and is now based with Newcastle’s Brian Fairbairn, is 4-1 second best for the £20,000 competition.
