Derby book closes on field of 166

THE entry book closed at 7pm on Monday night for this year’s Star Sports & Orchestrate Derby with Towcester declaring a figure of 166.
James Chalkley, head of racing at the Northamptonshire track, said: “We still need to go through the entries and check all are okay and that there are none which have been missed as I know some trainers had issues with the online payment system.
"The figure currently is 166 subject to verification, although that may change slightly once the dust settles.”
The racing office team will be going through the entry over the next few days to confirm eligibility and finalise seedings for the Classic hopefuls ahead of Friday’s first-round draw, which will be made live at the track.
The first round is scheduled to be run over three consecutive nights, starting on Thursday, April 30.
