Classy Daithi calls the Monmore shots

ARMAGH DAITHI followed up his heat win in Monmore’s Ladbrokes.com 480 final on Thursday, completing a double on the night for Mark Wallis.

It looked touch and go whether he would avoid main rival Kilara Berb, who went with him early after both broke well, but he dodged Nathan Hunt’s runner and then set sail for home off the second, winning by almost four lengths in 28.22sec (going normal all races) for the 480m.

Wallis struck first with Newinn Tonic, who had to work a lot harder to see off Kilwest Diva by a short head in heat one of the Ladbrokes.com 480 Bitches in 28.63sec.

Heat two saw an easier success for Kevin Hutton’s Droopys Doris as she made all in 28.47sec.

She was the middle leg of a treble for Hutton, with Droopys Will making a winning six-bend debut as he made all in 38.16sec in heat one of the Ladbrokes.com 630 maiden after skipping clear early, with Ollie The Ox completing the treble with a strong-running 28.75sec success in a 480m one-off.

The other final on the card, the Ladbrokes.com 264, went to Newinn Bachelor, with Kim Billingham-Hine’s dog short-heading kennelmate Catchem Boyo in a bobbing finish in 15.33sec.

Esther Driver notched a double courtesy of 16-1 surprise scorer Stellas Charm in heat two of the 630m maiden (always led, 38.11sec) and Carmac Cash, who reeled in Hutton’s Start The Engine off the last to win by a length in 28.39sec.

There was also a double for Richie Taberner with Countess Penny in heat one of the Ladbrokes.com 480 Puppy (made all, 28.63sec) and Aero Boris in the 630m finale, a short-head winner in 38.17sec.

Hunt’s Gordon Bennett was the fastest of the night over 480m as he left the opposition in his wake in heat two of the Puppy event, scoring by just over six lengths in 28.21sec
