Wesley Ward juvenile becomes first winner for No Nay Never

Wesley Ward handing No Nay Never over to Coolmore's David O'Loughlin

No Nay Never was represented by his first winner as Mae Never No landed a valuable maiden at Belmont on Thursday.

Fittingly the filly is trained by Wesley Ward, who not only oversaw the racing career of Prix Morny hero No Nay Never but also that of her dam Sweet Shirley Mae, herself a Grade 1 placegetter by Broken Vow.

An Ice Wine Stables homebred, Mae Never No swooped late under Gary Stevens to win the $96,500 maiden by a length and a quarter.

No Nay Never, who was the first Royal Ascot winner for the late Scat Daddy when he landed the 2013 Norfolk Stakes, is standing his fourth season at a career-high fee of €25,000 at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.
