Well-bred son of Frankel set to make Lingfield debut

Fashion Business ready to strut his stuff for Roger Charlton

Frankel: a first winner at the royal meeting for the stallion
1 of 1

Frankel is represented by his first runner at Lingfield on Saturday when Roger Charlton introduces Fashion Business, a three-year-old son of Grade 1 winner Icon Project, in the first division of a mile maiden at 2.35pm.

The Beckhampton trainer has sent out three previous offspring of the ten-time Group 1 winner with Fair Eva successful on her first two starts including the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes, Atty Persse an impressive winner of a Sandown mile maiden and Zefferino, a narrow runner-up on his debut at Newmarket.

Owned and bred by Andrew Rosen, co-founder and chief executive of US fashion label Theory, Fashion Business is the third foal produced by Icon Project who was purchased by Hugo Merry Bloodstock on behalf of Rosen for $775,000 at the 2006 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The daughter of Empire Maker was originally trained by Brian Meehan to finish a seven length runner-up to subsequent three-time Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi on her three-year-old debut, before winning a 1m4f Haydock maiden and finishing third to Dar Re Mi to a Listed Aphrodite Stakes.

After switching to US trainer Martin Wolfson, Icon Project notched victories in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign Stakes and the Grade 3 New York Stakes and placed performances in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap and La Prevoyante Handicap.

She is a half-sister to US Grade 2 Santa Anita Oak Tree Derby winner Lasting Approval and to the dam of triple Grade 2 victor and sire Munnings and boasts a lovely pedigree.

Icon Project is a daughter of 1991 Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes heroine La Gueriere, a half-sister to fellow top level-winner Al Mamoon from the family of champion French racemare Allez France.

Fashion Business is a half-brother to Battalia, a four-year-old daughter of War Front who fetched 950,000gns when bought by John Ferguson at Book 1 of the 2014 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, and to a two-year-old filly by Dubawi who is also in training with Charlton.

Owned and bred by Andrew Rosen, co-founder and chief executive of US fashion label Theory, Fashion Business is the third foal produced by Icon Project
