Racing Post's James Thomas and Scott Burton travelled the length and breadth of Normandy for the Route des Etalons, an increasingly popular weekend when many of the region's studs open their gates and parade their stallions.

Over a drink in one of Deauville's liveliest bars, Le Drakkar, the pair discuss which stallions caught their eye and give their assessment of the state of the bloodstock industry in France.
