Vandeek's fee held firm at £15,000 as Ulysses departs Cheveley Park Stud roster

Vandeek will stand for an unchanged fee of £15,000 for his second season at Cheveley Park Stud in 2026.
The champion two-year-old covered 161 mares in his debut book, a number that includes 18 siblings to Group 1 winners, 15 half- or full-sisters to Group 2 winners and 25 other stakes producers.
Among the breeders who have rowed in behind the son of Havana Grey are: Juddmonte Farms, Newsells Park Stud, Moyglare Stud Farm, Blue Diamond Stud, Yeomanstown Stud, Haras D’Etreham and Gestüt Fährhof.
Cheveley Park Stud’s bloodstock manager and head of nominations Matthew Sigsworth said: “We were delighted that Vandeek was so well supported by many of Europe’s leading breeders in his first season, and we very much look forward to seeing his first foals next year. As always, I invite breeders to contact me directly to discuss their mares’ mating plans for 2026.”
Not only did Vandeek win the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes during an unbeaten juvenile campaign, but his profile has been further enhanced by the exploits of his half-brother Gstaad. The son of Starspangledbanner, who was also bred by Kelly Thomas’s Maywood Stud, landed this year’s Group 2 Coventry Stakes and Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.
Vandeek will be the sole name on the Cheveley Park roster in 2026 with Ulysses making the switch to SAB Allevamento di Besnate in Italy. The son of Galileo and Oaks heroine Light Shift has sired 16 black-type performers during his time in Newmarket, a roll of honour headed by Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup winner White Birch.
The transfer to Italy sees Ulysses stand alongside former British-based names Adaay and Mukhadram.
