Time Test the latest off the mark as The King's Horses strikes in Italy

Colt part of a truly super Saturday for National Stud sires

Time Test: National Stud sire has his first winner on the board
1 of 1

Saturday proved an excellent day for the National Stud's first-season sires as Time Test gained his first winner when The King's Horses won in Milan.

A graduate of Tattersalls, the two-year-old colt was bred by Andrew Tinkler and fittingly won on the day of the London Gold Cup at Newbury, a race his sire landed in 2015.

A beautifully bred son of Dubawi and Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage Of Time, Time Test was bred by Juddmonte and raced in the famous pink, white and turquoise silks.

A winner at Sandown as a juvenile he went on to add the Tercentenary, Joel, Brigadier Gerard and York Stakes to his name for Roger Charlton, before finishing second in two Grade 1 contests for Chad Brown in the United States.

He is the third foal out of Passage Of Time - a daughter of Dansili and the winning Sadler's Wells mare Clepsydra who famously provided Sir Henry Cecil with his first top-level winner in over six years at Saint-Cloud - and a relation to three winners in Time Chaser, Tempus and Retirement Plan.

The nine-year-old retired to the National Stud for the 2018 breeding season for a fee of £8,500. He has proven popular over the course of his career so far and his first yearlings sold for up to 150,000gns.

His fellow first-season sire and studmate Aclaim also registered his first winner on Saturday, when Cachet scored at Newmarket.
