Three Coins has freshman sire Fountain Of Youth in the money at Ripon
Bearstone Stud stand the stallion for £4,500
Bearstone Stud had reason to celebrate at Ripon’s evening meeting after the homebred Three Coins provided a first victory for its own stallion Fountain Of Youth.
Terry Holdcroft’s Shropshire operation is standing the well-bred son of Oasis Dream and the brilliant Attraction at £4,500, and seven of his offspring had hit the track in Europe before the Richard Fahey-trained filly landed the honours in the Wetherby Racecourse Ladies’ Day 30th May EBF Novice Auction Stakes.
Fountain Of Youth, who cost 420,000gns as a yearling and won the Group 3 Sapphire Stakes in the hands of Aidan O’Brien, was transferred for a fruitless Dubai World Cup Carnival campaign in 2015 before his retirement.

He has 71 possible first crop representatives and was reasonable well received at the sales, achieving 50,000gns with one of his yearling offerings.
Three Coins was bought for 25,000gns at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale by Peter and Ross Doyle but was carrying the white and blue silks of Bearstone Stud Limited when appearing in North Yorkshire.
She is out of the Holdcroft-owned Firebreak mare Bereka, who was placed on a handful of occasions but more significantly is a sister to the Italian Group 1 winner Hearts Of Fire.
Although a 10-1 chance who was still clearly quite inexperienced, the well-made Three Coins was up with the pace throughout and seemed to have a little more in hand than the three-quarter length margin over Birkenhead and Paper Star, both of whom had already run.
