Ten-year-old broodmare Blissful Beat to be auctioned through online platform
Her first mating with Starspangledbanner resulted in Home Of The Brave
Arqana has been developing its online platform in recent years and the latest high-profile auction lot to be offered is the ten-year-old broodmare Blissful Beat, dam of last season's Group 3 Timeform Jury Stakes winner Home Of The Brave.
She will be offered by Haras du Grand Chene with an early service to champion sire Le Havre.
Blissful Beat, a daughter of Beat Hollow, was an unraced mare but her first mating with Starspangledbanner resulted in Home Of The Brave. Trained by Hugo Palmer he also took the Listed European Free Handicap as a juvenile and the Listed King Richard III Stakes at three.
He was also first past the post in the Group 3 Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh at three, but was disqualified after a banned substance was found in his sample.
Home Of The Brave cost €80,000 at Arqana’s August Yearling Sale in 2013 when offered by the Coulonces Consignment and his younger siblings have also sold well at the same auction.
Blissful Beat's 2013 colt by Dream Ahead commanded €250,000 from Peter and Ross Doyle in 2014 while her 2014 son of Excelebration sold for €180,000 to Rob Speers in 2015.
Blissful Beat slipped to Dark Angel in 2015 but she has a filly foal by Haras de Bouquetot’s exciting young sire Olympic Glory and is in foal to leading sire Le Havre.
Anna Drion, who runs Haras du Grand Chene, said: "This mare has been wonderful to us. She was a mare I wanted to buy from the moment I saw her and her very first foal turned out to be the wonderful horse that is Home Of The Brave.
"She has everything you could ask for to make a top broodmare and is a tremendous walker. It breaks my heart to have to let her go but she will make someone else very happy!"
The online auction at arqanaonline.com will start at 3pm on Tuesday, January 17 and will close the next day at the same time.
