Stellar year for Acclamation rewarded with career-high price for 2018

The sire of Aclaim and Expert Eye heads Rathbarry Stud's five-strong roster

Aclaim: Son of Acclamation will take up stud duties next year

Rathbarry Stud stalwart Acclamation will stand at a career-high fee of €40,000 after the County Cork operation unveiled the 2018 fees for its roster on Friday.

The announcement comes on the back of Acclamation supplying his fourth winner at the highest level thanks to Aclaim's success in the Prix de la Foret last month. The four-year-old will join the growing number of Acclamation's sire sons when he takes up stud duties at the National Stud in Newmarket next year.

Marsha's stunning last-gasp victory over Lady Aurelia in the Nunthorpe Stakes was another highlight of Acclamation's 2017 season, and the flying filly could yet bring further glory when she bids to bring the curtain down on her racing career in Saturday's Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

The Acclamation sire-line has been thrust into the limelight thanks to his son Dark Angel being responsible for three new winners at the highest level this year in the shape of Harry Angel, Battaash and Persuasive. Acclamation also looks like he has an exciting colt to go to war with in the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Vintage Stakes scorer Expert Eye.

Both Ajaya and Kodi Bear, who entered the stallion ranks at Rathbarry this year, have had their fees reduced from €10,000 to €8,000 for the next covering season. Completing the roster are Moohaajim, whose first yearlings went under the hammer recently, and Limato's sire Tagula, who remain unchanged at €4,000.
