Star line-ups for Books 2, 3 and 4 revealed by Tattersalls
The catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale have been revealed with Book 2 featuring 804 yearlings, Book 3 boasting 652 lots, and a further 122 yearlings to sell during Book 4.
Group 1 winners Battaash and Poet's Word, as well as impressive juvenile Group 2 scorer Dark Vision, have all flown the flag for Book 2 in recent months.
Contained within this year's catalogue are siblings to an impressive 176 Group and Listed winners including top-flight scorers Best Solution, Blue Point, Due Diligence, Unfortunately and Urban Fox.
The usual plethora of leading sires will be represented, among them Dark Angel, Invincible Spirit, Sea The Stars and Shamardal.
Ballylinch Stud’s Lope De Vega leads the way numerically with 43 yearlings catalogued. Kodiac has 37, Showcasing has 25 and Iffraaj has 24, while Dark Angel and Zoffany both have 23 to represent them.
Juddmonte’s resurgent sire Oasis Dream, sire of Europe’s highest rated two-year-old filly Pretty Pollyanna, is also well-represented with 19 catalogued.
Yearlings by the exciting trio of Gleneagles, Golden Horn and Muhaarar will all come under the hammer, as will those by Night Of Thunder, Make Believe and Brazen Beau.
Flying first-season sires Australia, Kingman and No Nay Never all have double-digit offerings.
Book 3 will revert to its usual two-day format this year, with Book 2 taking place on October 15-17, Book 3 running from October 18-19 and Book 4 held on the morning of October 20.
All of the yearlings in Books 3 and 4 of the October Yearling Sale are eligible for the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The highest rated horse in Europe, Poet's Word, and the world’s highest-rated sprinter, Battaash, were both purchased at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and Book 3 has also enjoyed a banner year with the likes of Group 1 winner Urban Fox and top two-year-old Signora Cabello.
"The demand for places has ensured genuine quality from start to finish and there is no doubt that plenty more champions will emerge from the second week of Europe's premier yearling sale."
