Stage all set for Garswood's half-brother to make debut
Aidan O'Brien to unleash the colt at Navan on Saturday
Every year a host of exciting bluebloods find their way to Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle yard, and on Saturday he is set to unleash another in the shape of Garswood's half-brother, World Stage, at Navan.
His half-brother was trained by Richard Fahey to win four races, including the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest on what proved to be his final start.
World Stage is the fourth foal out of the unraced Kyllachy mare Penchant, and was bred by Lynch Bages for the Coolmore partners. She is in turn a three-parts sister to Nell Gwyn winner Infallible, who was also second in the Falmouth and Coronation Stakes and is the dam of Group 2 winner Mutakayyef.
Penchant is also a three-parts sister to Watchable and Remarkable, both of whom have finished runner-up in Listed races over sprint distances.
The Galileo and Pivotal cross, which has so far produced 15 winners from 17 runners including top-level scorers Rhododendron and Hydrangea, gives hope that perhaps a mare out of one of Pivotal's sons can also click with the perennial champion sire.
The success of dual Classic winners Churchill and Winter have further highlighted Galileo's knack of working with speedy mares. While Penchant was unraced herself, her family has plenty of form over sprinting distances.
