Delight at Sheila Lavery’s first winner of the season was shared across more than one part of Summerhill in County Meath. The promising Naas maiden scorer Maeda Matsu was produced only a few miles from the popular trainer’s base at Kiltale Farm, where horses are of magnified importance to the Noone family.
The juvenile filly by Dubawi Legend was bred by Claire Noone, who had a car accident around 20 years ago which seriously impaired her mobility. Her brother Conor, who runs the stud in partnership with Shane Quigley, found Maeda Matsu’s dam Poole Belle for her as an investment among the mares being dispersed by Sir Edmund Loder at the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale in 2020.
Picked up for €20,000, the Salisbury winner by Canford Cliffs is related to a stack of decorated horses, including Satwa Queen, Nations Pride, Lucky Vega and Militarize.
