Siyouni nomination sells online for market value at €75,000
Son of Pivotal will stand his eighth season at Bonneval next year
Samuel de Barros, a newcomer to the thoroughbred breeders' ranks, made the winning €75,000 bid for a Siyouni nomination, offered on Arqana's online platform over a 24-hour period on Monday and Tuesday.
The amount matches the ten-year-old son of Pivotal's career-high stud fee for the 2018 breeding season.
Barros' wife Elodie has been breeding and racing trotters for a number of years at the couple's Haras des Authieux in Normandy and her husband, who takes advice from Bertrand Le Metayer, has now decided to branch out into the thoroughbred world.
He was active at the breeding-stock sales prior to securing the Siyouni nomination.
Siyouni stood his first four seasons at a fee of €7,000, from which emerged the three-time Group 1-winning miler Ervedya and Fillies' Mile heroine Laurens, who holds a live chance in next year's 1,000 Guineas.
Two nominations to France's 2017 champion sire elect were offered for sale by a shareholder unable to find suitable mares to use them, with the second nomination bought back for the same amount.
