Deauville will on Tuesday welcome a two-year-old newcomer with a pedigree teeming with relevance.

Sottsass, who contests the mile maiden for unraced colts at 2.20pm local time (1.20pm BST), is a Siyouni half-brother to Sistercharlie, who this month landed her third Grade 1 of the year when she scored by half a length in the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington.

Sistercharlie, a daughter of Myboycharlie trained by Chad Brown for Peter Brant, has also taken the Diana Stakes and Jenny Wiley Stakes at four in 2018.

Last year she finished a length second to Senga in the Prix de Diane for original trainer Henri-Alex Pantall.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Sottsass will also carry the green silks of Brant's White Birch Farm after he paid €340,000 for him at last year's Arqana August Sale through Oceanic Bloodstock.

Brant is obviously a huge fan of this family, as he also moved to secure the Charm Spirit yearling half-brother to Sistercharlie and Sottsass for €400,000 in Deauville on Saturday.

This really is a buzzing family as the siblings are a half-sister to My Sister Nat, who finished third in the Group 2 Prix de la Nonette on Saturday.

They were all bred by Ecurie des Monceaux out of Starlet's Sister, a Galileo half-sister to Grade 1-placed Anabaa's Creation.

Moreover Siyouni, the sire of Sottsass, has enjoyed another standout year by supplying the likes of Prix de Diane heroine Laurens and Diamond Jubilee Stakes runner-up City Light.

The rivals to Sottsass at Deauville include In Favour - a Frankel colt out of Popular, a winning sister to Midday, and so bred along very similar lines to Monday's Windsor novice stakes winner Midi. He is trained by Andre Fabre for owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah.

Meanwhile, the fillies' version of the mile maiden for unraced two-year-olds at Deauville – which takes place at 2.50pm local time (1.50pm BST) – also features several noteworthy pedigrees.

Most notable is perhaps Olympe, a Charm Spirit filly out of three-time North American Grade 2 winner Naissance Royale.

The half-sister to Prix Penelope third Jadhaba was a €130,000 Arqana August Yearling Sale purchase by MAB Agency on behalf of Haras Voltaire last year.

This year's yearling filly out of Naissance Royale, this one by Galileo, sold for €600,000 to Narvick International on behalf of Japanese interests in Deauville on Saturday.

Also of interest in breeding is Gerard Augustin-Normand's homebred filly Commes, by the owner's Prix du Jockey Club winner Le Havre out of his Prix de Psyche scorer and Prix de Diane sixth Leaupartie. She is trained by Jean-Claude Rouget.
