Tattersalls Ireland have added 14 eye-catching wildcard entries to what already looks set to be another hot renewal of the Cheltenham May Sale, which takes place at the Prestbury Park sales arena on Thursday from 1pm.

A total of 69 pointers and form horses have been catalogued, and icons of the pointing field Denis Murphy, Colin Bowe and Donnchadh Doyle have each made a significant draft of entries.

Four-year-olds dominated the top end of the market at last year's sale, with the top five lots, including the £200,000 sale-topper Redhotfillypeppers, all coming from that age bracket.

Among the taking four-year-old wildcard entries are:

Aero Majestic: an Arcadio gelding who was second on debut in the four-year-old maiden at Tralee last weekend.

Another Barney: a Scorpion gelding and winner of his maiden at Tralee last weekend.

Buster Edwards: a Kalanisi gelding that was a promising third on debut at Dromahane.

Pontresina: a Milan gelding and a winner on debut, with the second-placed horse having subsequently sold for £60,000.

Rath An Iuir: a Flemensfirth gelding and €62,000 store that has been placed twice in maiden company.

Touchy Subject: a Tikkanen gelding beaten one and a half lengths when second at Tralee last weekend.

All lots can be viewed from 2pm in the Charles Turner Yard on May 31, and again the following morning from 8.30am before the sale commences.

Murphy and Doyle can rule the roost again at Cheltenham Sale
