What a week for Meon Valley Stud. After toasting Speedy Boarding's gutsy victory in the Prix de l'Opera at Chantilly on Sunday and selling her Frankel half-brother to Shadwell for 500,000gns on the opening day of trade at Tattersalls on Tuesday, there was yet more cause for celebration for the Hampshire nursery on Thursday as a Dubawi colt out of its earlier Prix de l'Opera heroine Zee Zee Top sold for 2,600,000gns.

A packed ring watched as Shadwell's Angus Gold got the better of Roger Varian to secure the half-brother to Izzi Top and Jazzi Top, who in the process became the most expensive yearling ever to be sold by Meon Valley Stud.

The price eclipsed the 1,300,000gns paid by Demi O'Byrne for a Green Desert colt out of the Shirley Heights mare Colorvista in 2001.
