Grand National contender Just A Par entered in Aintree Sale
Ten-year-old guaranteed a run in the marathon contest
For the second year in a row the Goffs UK Aintree Sale will offer prospective buyers the chance to have their colours carried in the Randox Health Grand National as the Paul Nicholls-trained Just A Par is set to come under the hammer.
The ten-year-old has shown he is capable of staying over three miles as he won the Grade 3 bet365 Gold Cup Chase at Sandown over 3m5f and recorded his first victory for almost two years when winning a 3m2f chase at Newbury earlier this month.
He is definitely guaranteed a run in Aintree's showpiece and has run in the race before when finishing 15th behind Rule The World.
Last year, the former Nicholls-trained Black Thunder was snapped up by Highflyer Bloodstock on behalf Robert Waley-Cohen and a group of owners for £90,000. Ridden by Sam Waley-Cohen he was pulled up in the contest.
A draft of Irish point-to-pointers will also head to the sale with Mick Goff consigning Fullasthesea, a four-year-old son of Champs Elysees who won a maiden point at Maralin by 20 lengths, and debut point-to-point winner Johnny Ocean who is from the family of Black Hercules.
Mark Johnston's Golden Jeffrey, last seen winning a bumper at Ayr, is also part of the initial entries for the auction.
Last year the star lot was Samcro, a winning pointer bought by Gordon Elliott for £335,000, who has gone on to win both of his starts for the handler.
