The opening session of the Tattersalls July Sale on Wednesday took some igniting, but with a diverse and international buying bench locking horns it wasn't long before trade was burning brightly, with the Godolphin draft the undoubted highlight.

BBA's Eamonn Reilly, who was busy from the off, struck his biggest blow late in the piece, going to 270,000gns to see off a determined Tom Goff to secure Carte De Visite, an unraced Street Cry half-sister to champion miler Raven's Pass.

“She's been bought for Maurice Regan and she'll go back to Newtown Anner Stud in Ireland,” said Reilly. “Newton Anner have been having a good year with the likes of Red Stars and Fascinating Rock so they're upgrading their mares and this sale was a good opportunity to do just that.
