Coolmore and Mayfair Speculators have an exciting two-year-old on their hands in wide-margin Leopardstown maiden winner Douglas Macarthur, a brother to Oaks heroine Was, and the partnership was stocking up on more superbly bred Galileo stock in the second session of the Arqana August Yearling Sale in Deauville on Monday.

Just three lots into proceedings they struck at €1.4 million for a half-sister to Irish Oaks winner Chicquita from Ecurie des Monceaux.

Remarkably, she was the fourth yearling out of Prudenzia, a Listed-winning daughter of Dansili and Monceaux foundation mare Platonic, to sell as a yearling for a seven-figure price in Deauville.
