A pair of fillies by Ardad and Rubaiyat shared top honours at €20,000 apiece at the inaugural edition of the Auctav Flat Yearling Sale on Saturday.

Consigned by Haras De Fergand, the daughter of Ardad sold to Anna and Moa Sundstrom, while trainer Louis Baudron, signing as Herald Bloodstock, purchased the Rubaiyat youngster from Haras Du Long Champ.

Catalogued as Lot 43, the Rubaiyat filly is out of Kaiserwiese, making her a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Kronprinz (by Lord Of England) and the Group-placed winner King.

Bred by Overbury Stud, the daughter of Ardad was bought by SFB2L Investments for 15,000gns at the 2024 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, before being led out unsold at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale. She is out of Wild Mimosa, a daughter of Dynaformer, whose five winners are headed by the Love Interest, a stakes-placed winning daughter of Time Test.

Wild Mimosa is a half-sister to top-flight winners Summoner and Compton Admiral, while she also counts Ribblesdale Stakes runner-up Twyla Tharp among her half-siblings. That daughter of Sadler’s Wells produced four-time Group 1 winner The Fugue.

Meanwhile, Con Marnane, who snared five yearlings at Osarus earlier this week, signed for a colt by Goken at €18,000.

A total of 89 yearlings were offered and 34 sold (38%) for an aggregate of €228,500. The average was €6,720 and the median finished at €5,500.
