Following a successful sale of Purebred Arabian breeding stock from the late Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's empire, Auctav will be offering 30 yearlings and two-year-olds online on February 2.

“The quality of this catalogue is remarkable. It is the work of more than 35 years of selection under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum," said Shadwell's sale coordinator Marion Lachat.

“Over the past three years, we have reached new heights in breeding. Until then, we produced two or three champions each year, but now it's the whole generation that stands out.

"Among the horses in training sold in 2021, five have already stood out on racetracks - Moshrif, Al Khaleejy, Farasah, Alajab and Baahya.

"Such a sale is rare. Shadwell has never sold so many horses of this age at the same time and even for the Purebred Arabian breed, it is not common to sell yearlings. With the yearlings, this is a wonderful first for investors and the two-year-olds will be able to start training at the end of the summer."

The sale takes place online between 2pm and 3pm GMT and includes relatives to champions such as Handassa and Tashreefat.

Arnaud Angeliaume, the managing director of Auctav, said: "We are honoured by Shadwell's renewed trust. The purebred Arabian breed is an absolutely great market with buyers who have a huge respect for the work of Shadwell, which has built a remarkable breeding operation.

"They know the quality and are aware these sales are historic. The sale of the broodmares was an undeniable success. I am convinced that by offering young horses which can be seen racing from 2023 will also generate great enthusiasm."
