Partial Floors Stud dispersal scheduled for Tattersalls December Sales
Kiltinan Castle Stud will consign the seven mares and foals
A partial dispersal of stock from the late Duke of Roxburghe’s Floors Stud will be offered at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Sale.
Seven foals and seven mares will be consigned on behalf of Floors Stud under the banner of Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber’s Kiltinan Castle Stud, with the foals all selling on November 27 followed by the broodmares on December 1.
The Duchess of Roxburghe, Virginia Wynn-Williams, explained after the 1,100,000gns sale of a son of Floors flagbearer Attraction earlier in the month that the family would continue breeding thoroughbreds but on a smaller scale. The Duke, a great racing enthusiast, died last year.
Two half-sisters to the great Attraction also feature, led by the Grade 3 placed Federation, in foal to Starspangledbanner. Federation's two-year-old daughter by Shalaa has shown promise in Japan, while the mare is joined by Cape Cross half-sister Fusion, who is not in foal.
Another outstanding broodmare synonymous with the Floors Stud legacy is the Group 1 producer Comic, dam of Hong Kong legend Viva Pataca and dual Grade 1 winner Laughing.
Her Listed-winning granddaughter Twitch [covered by Magna Grecia], Redoute's Choice mare Deep Inside [Lope De Vega]. Galileo's well-related Lady Glinka [Time Test] and Merry Jaunt [Night Of Thunder] complete the septet. Five of those mares also have loftily-bred foals in the part dispersal
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The late Duke of Roxburghe was a passionate and hugely successful owner/breeder and left a lasting legacy which was never more obvious than at Book 1 of the recent October Yearling Sales, where two of the six Floors yearlings sold for more than one million guineas.
"As with so many dispersals it is tinged with sadness, but we are proud that Tattersalls has been entrusted with the Floors Stud partial dispersal and confident that it will be amongst the highlights of Europe’s premier foal and breeding stock sale.”

Simon Marsh, general manager of Kiltinan Castle Stud, added: "We are honoured to have been asked to handle the partial dispersal on behalf of Floors Stud.
"Guy Roxburghe was a great friend and the mares and foals being sold are a wonderful and lasting testament to his commitment and success as a Classic-winning breeder."
