A Jack Hobbs half-sister to last week's impressive Tolworth Hurdle winner Constitution Hill headlines the quality entries for the Goffs UK January Sale later this month.

Taking place from January 25-26, the sale will offer National Hunt foals alongside mares, horses-in-training and pointers on what will be the first UK sale of the year.

Over 150 foal entries have been catalogued and they will open the sale from 11am on the first day followed by the mares. The second day will be made up of horses in training and point-to-pointers.

Among the highlights of the foal section are the Glanvilles Stud's Scalo half-sister to Grade 2 Steeplechase di Italia winner Saxo Sol (Lot 5), Elms Bloodstock's Blue Bresil colt out of Yorkshire Rose Mares' Hurdle scorer Maria's Benefit (36), Throckmorton Court Stud's Jack Hobbs half-sister to the exciting Constitution Hill (64), Shade Oak Stud's Telescope half-brother to Champion Trial Hurdle winner and Triumph Hurdle fourth Songe (77) and Swanbridge Bloodstock's Walk In The Park filly out of a half-sister to Christmas Hurdle scorer Prince Of Scars (149).

The mares section has sold horses such as Grade 1 winner Stormy Ireland and this year will offer lots such as Listed winner Fantastic Ms Fox (172), who will be offered by Trickledown Stud, and North Farm Stud's Listed-placed Hitherjacques Lady (186).

Entries for the horses in training and pointers section include winning UK and Irish pointers Camilla's Lot (264), The Tablet (265) and Goodoldbill (267), while trainers with entries include Alan King, Dan Skelton, Evan Williams, Gordon Elliott, Nicky Henderson and Willie Mullins.

The now regular TBA National Hunt Stallion Showcase will see 18 stallions on parade in Yard B on the Tuesday. Those in attendance are Arrigo, Bangkok, Dartmouth, Dink, Diplomat, Dragon Dancer, Flag Of Honour, Frammassone, Frontiersman, Gentlewave, Jack Hobbs, Leading Light, Logician, Masterstroke, Pether's Moon, Planteur, Telescope and Walzertakt.

Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent said: “This sale’s NH foal session continues to grow and it’s fantastic to see it offer its largest number in recent years so we extend our thanks to the vendors who have continued to up their support. The session keeps developing in terms of quality and features progeny from a high number of mares who achieved black type on the track – an indication of the quality of the catalogue assembled.

“Racing over the last 12 months has seen two Grade 1 winners emerge from this sale, Stormy Ireland who won the Irish Mares Champion Hurdle and Vanillier who was victorious in the Cheltenham Festival’s Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle. Vanillier was offered as part of the P2P/Form Horse Session and is a great advert for the quality the session produces.

“The sale will also once again host the annual TBA NH Stallion Showcase which will see some of the UK’s leading NH sires on parade on the opening day of the sale – Tuesday, January 25. All horses will be available to view in Yard B and the sires in attendance can be found in the front of the sale catalogue.”
