Plying, the dam of three-time Group 1 winner Alcohol Free, will headline the catalogue for the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale at Kildare Paddocks on November 18-19. She is in foal to one of the world’s leading sires in Lope De Vega.

Plying will be sold by Jossestown Farm in Fethard, County Tipperary, who purchased the mare at the 2018 Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale.

Her three-year-old No Nay Never daughter Alcohol Free has been one of the stars of the 2021 season, landing both the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

Trained by Andrew Balding for owner Jeff Smith, who purchased Alcohol Free at Goffs' November Foal Sale, she also won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes as a two-year-old.

An 11-year-old winning mare by Hard Spun out of the stakes-placed Fairy King mare Nasaieb, Plying has also produced Alexander James, who is a Listed winner in France.

Announcing the mare would be coming on the market in November, Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: “Plying is dam of one of the season’s true stars in Alcohol Free and has proven to be the shrewdest of investments by Jossestown Farm, who purchased her at our November Breeding Stock three years ago, so we are absolutely thrilled that she will return to the same sale as the star of the show this year. On behalf of the whole team at Goffs, I wish to extend my thanks to them for putting their trust in the Goffs service.

"Mares of Plying’s calibre epitomise the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale’s reputation as a source of Group 1 producers, and it is no wonder it attracts such a diverse audience of leading broodmare buyers each year. I am very pleased to confirm that Plying headlines a particularly strong catalogue for the first major European breeding stock sale of the year, for which our marketing team and overseas agents are already working hard to promote the sale to an international audience.

"Plying is a mare that would grace any breeding stock sale anywhere in the world and we anticipate global interest.”

The November Breeding Stock sale is held in conjunction with the Goffs November Foal Sale. Catalogues for both auctions will be published next month.
