Qatar Racing acquire Woodbine-bound Chicas Amigas
The daughter of Dragon Pulse won two races for the It's All About The Girls team
Qatar Racing have purchased the Jessica Harrington-trained Chicas Amigas, and now plan to run the filly in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine on September 16.
"Sheikh Fahad and Mark McStay, who acted as agent, wanted to buy a filly with a view to running in Canada and the US and she's exactly the right sort of filly," said Qatar Racing's racing manager David Redvers.
"I went to see her myself and she's a gorgeous stamp of a horse and was very well bought as a yearling by Patrick Cooper. She's a big scopey girl who looks like she should continue to improve with time.
"A decision will be made after the Natalma Stakes as to whether she comes back to Jessie or stays in America."
The two-year-old daughter of Dragon Pulse has won two races for Harrington and the all-female It's All About The Girls syndicate after being acquired at last year's Goffs Orby Sale for €25,000 when signed for by BBA Ireland.
She made a winning debut over 6f at Dundalk in May before running second to Servalan in the Listed Sprint Stakes, a race in which she finished ahead of subsequent Group 2 Debutante Stakes winner Skitter Scatter and Group 3 Grangecon Stud Stakes victress So Perfect.
Chicas Amigas was last seen winning a conditions race over 6f at the Curragh, and changes ownership with a peak Racing Post Rating of 94.
Bred by the Irish National Stud, Chicas Amigas boasts a pedigree that suggests she may well improve for the step up to a mile in the Natalma Stakes, as she is out of the Medicean mare Veronica Falls, who in turn is out of the Group 3-placed Red Peony, a daughter of Montjeu.
