Stud fee cuts welcome but don't forget about overproduction
More unsold yearlings at lower-end sales this week
Another 247 lots failed to change hands at lower-end yearling sales in the past week, bringing the number of unsold yearlings in Britain and Ireland this year to 968.
At the Goffs UK Autumn Yearling Sale on Monday, one in three lots failed to sell – 87 out of 133 changed hands, or 65 per cent. The Goffs Open Yearling Sale achieved a more respectable clearance rate, with 148 of the 191 on offer – 77 per cent – finding new homes.
A handful also went under the hammer at Goresbridge and Ascot, which added another 12 unsold yearlings to the tally.
