January can feel like such a drag, can’t it? The days are short, the weather’s grim and there’s nothing on the telly. 

Others might have been absorbed by the new series of the BBC’s Traitors, but I gave up the moment I realised it wasn’t, as I’d assumed from the name, a documentary about life on the press bench.
