Watch Me's sire Olympic Glory the latest to advertise strength of 2015 intake

Big week for stallion who was available to breeders for just E8,000 this season

In the week that memories of Choisir’s King’s Stand-Golden Jubilee double were evoked by Blue Point’s own momentous efforts, there was something apt about the landmark result recorded at Royal Ascot by Olympic Glory, one of the best sons left behind by Choisir from his period at Coolmore in Ireland.

For well over a year now, the general consensus has been that the 2015 intake of stallions is well above average, with Kingman, No Nay Never and Ruler Of The World each responsible for Group 1 winners.

We can now add Haras de Bouquetot’s Olympic Glory to the list as the sire of last Friday’s Coronation Stakes heroine Watch Me out of a first crop of 101 foals.

While Alexander Tamagni’s homebred is her sire’s first European Pattern winner, Olympic Glory had only days previously come close to making another Group 1 breakthrough when another daughter, Grand Glory, fell three-quarters of a length short of Channel in the Prix de Diane. All in all it was quite a week for the stallion, who was available to breeders for just €8,000 this season.

"We all know how hard it is to win these top races and having two of the best three-year-old fillies in Europe by Olympic Glory is hugely exciting," says Benoit Jeffroy, stud manager and bloodstock adviser at Al Shaqab.
