Tom Malone snaps up top lot at BBAG HIT August Sale for €110,000
Adrian, a son of Reliable Man, won a Hoppegarten Group 3 last time

Tom Malone was responsible for the purchase of the sole six-figure lot at the BBAG Horses in Training August Sale on Friday, picking up the Group 3-winning Adrian for €110,000 from Gestüt Auenquelle.
The son of Reliable Man was a half-length winner of the Furstenberg-Rennen at Hoppegarten last month and also struck in a Listed contest in Dusseldorf last June after a win on his only start at two the preceding November.
Bred by Gestut Rottgen, the four-year-old was a €52,000 purchase by Henk Grewe at the 2018 BBAG September Yearling Sale.
He is the seventh foal out of the Desert Style mare Anna Desta, a half-sister to Group 2 Oppenheim-Union-Rennen scorer Aspectus, and a half-brother to the Group 3 Hamburger Stuten Preis winner Anna Katharina and the Listed winner Attica.
An unnamed Rock of Gibraltar colt provided the second top lot of the day when making €34,000 to Hans Wirth from the stable of Andreas Wöhler.
The two-year-old is out of the Listed-winning Soldier Hollow mare Shanjia, herself a half-sister to Group 2 T. von Zastrow Stutenpreis winner Shivajia and out of a sibling to the Group-placed Silent Wind.
Sir Vulcano, a winning brother to St Leger Italiano winner Sir Polski was purchased by A-Turf for €32,000. The three-year-old was fourth in the Group 3 Bavarian Classic in May.
Overall, 25 of the 44 horses on offer sold for turnover of €392,000 and average price of €15,680.
The BBAG September Yearling Sale will take place on September 3 from 10am local time. Over 230 selected yearlings will go through the ring in Iffezheim.
