Dialed In claimed his first European stakes race on Thursday evening after the enterprisingly-campaigned Strive For Glory won in Listed company at Tipperary.

The 9-4 favourite was slowly away but quickly warmed to his task, eventually stretching three-quarters of a length clear of Air Force Jet in the Coolmore US Navy Flag Tipperary Stakes.

Trainer Robert Cowell is responsible for the only two of Dialed In’s offspring to have raced in Europe so far. Pocket Dynamo was only beaten a nose by Shang Shang Shang in last year’s Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and won at conditions level in France.

Strive For Glory, meanwhile, had broken his duck at the first attempt at Newcastle in April, then taking third in the National Stakes at Sandown and fourth in the Norfolk.

Cowell and owner Tom Morley had taken the colt from the Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $80,000. Bred by Michael and Amy Feuerborn, he is the first foal of the stakes-winning Chu And You, and closely related to Grade 1 winner Noble And Nice.

Dialed In, a son of Mineshaft, won the Florida Derby in 2011 and ended a light career with Nick Zito by finishing fourth in the Preakness. His fourth crop are appearing this year from his residency at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky, where he has been standing for $25,000.

He has made a smart start with runners on the track and substantially his best performer so far has been Gunnevera, last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic runner-up who was third in the last Dubai World Cup.
