Silverwave became a first Group 1 winner for his sire Silver Frost when claiming victory in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on Sunday for jockey Maxime Guyon and trainer Pascal Bary.

The four-year-old colt also became the second Group 1-winning son of Miss Bio, following on from his close relation Stormy River, who scorched home to deny Kentucky Dynamite in the 2006 renewal of the Prix Jean Prat.

By River Mist, Miss Bio is an unraced half-sister to dual US 1m Grade 3 winner Fantastic Filly.

Other close relations to Silverwave include the Listed-placed Mary D'Or and six-time scorer Stormy Ocean, while he is also a half-brother to the Group 3-placed son of Galileo, Line Drummer.

Bred by the Collet family, Silverwave was bought back by his first trainer, Alain Couetil - for whom he won four times, including a Longchamp Group 3 - at €420,000 from the 2014 Arqana Deauville Autumn Mixed Sale.

He had previously gone unsold at €60,000 at the 2013 Arqana October Yearling Sale.

Silver Frost, a son of Verglas, won seven times for trainer Yves de Nicolay, with the highlight of his 16-race career coming when defeating Le Havre by two lengths to land the 2009 renewal of the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas).

He retired to Haras de le Hetraie in 2011, where he stood the latest covering season at a fee of €6,000.

Out of the Anabaa mare Hidden Silver, Silver Frost is a half-brother to Spiritjim, who finished first past the post in the 2014 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, only to be disqualified having subsequently tested positive for a banned substance.
