'She's different class' - Childwickbury Stud set for Tattersalls with exciting foal draft
Kitty Trice speaks to manager Christian Williams about the five-strong team

Childwickbury Stud will take another step forward in its path to being a consistent presence at the sales when consigning a high quality draft at next week's Tattersalls December Foal Sale.
Paul and Sally Flatt's historic operation will offer five foals by a number of different sires, including a filly by Sea The Stars (lot 910) out of an Aga Khan-bred Siyouni mare.
The excitement and anticipation surrounding the foal from the family of champion Sinndar is palpable and could yet signal the re-entry of Childwickbury as a Classic-producing stud.
Manager Christian Williams said of the consignment: "I think we've got a really nice draft and it should appeal to all buyers from pinhookers to end users. All five are very nice foals and it will be good to showcase the stud."
The aforementioned Sea The Stars filly hails from a typically illustrious Aga Khan family and she could prove a hit at Park Paddocks following another top year for the sire. The Gilltown Stud resident's season was topped by the victory of Daryz in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp last month.
Williams added: "The Sea The Stars filly is different class. She's very well balanced, a great mover, vets very well and obviously the stallion's gone from strength to strength this year. The dam is by Siyouni and was above average, she was highly regarded by Dermot Weld. She beat a filly on debut who went on to finish third in the Irish Oaks.
"Her yearling filly is exceptional and has just gone into training with Ed Walker. She's pretty exciting."
Childwickbury will also offer a colt by Study Of Man (745), Lanwades Stud's high-flying son of Deep Impact who will stand for a career-high fee of £35,000 in 2026. This foal is out of a winning Sea The Stars mare who is a daughter of the Group-winning Ladys First.

Williams said of the bay: "We've also got a lovely Study Of Man colt out of a Sea The Stars mare who has two winners from as many runners. The stallion again is going very well and I expect him to be popular."
Another notable offering is a Territories half-brother (683) to promising 2025 juvenile Sukanya, who was second to subsequent Prix Marcel Boussac heroine Diamond Necklace in the Ingabelle Stakes at Leopardstown in September. The colt's further family includes American Grade 1 scorer Heritage Of Gold.
"The Territories colt is very strong and is a half-brother to a really exciting filly called Sukanya, who is trained by Jack Channon. She was fourth in the Prestige [Stakes] behind Precise and Moon Target. She was then second to Diamond Necklace in the Ingabelle Stakes."
Childwickbury's other offerings include colts by Shadwell's exciting young pair Mostahdaf (684) and Mohaather (433), the former from the first crop of the Juddmonte International and Prince of Wales's Stakes winner.
The son of Mostahdaf is out of the winning Gleneagles mare Cosa Sara and from the family of Irish 2,000 Guineas winner and sire Romanised, while the Mohaather colt is out of a winning daughter of Frankel. The page traces back to Derby and King George winner Adayar and Group 1-winning juvenile National Defense.
He added: "The Mostahdaf colt is the first foal out of a winning mare and he's very strong. He's one of the best first foals I've seen in a while and one of the nicest foals off the farm. The Mohaather colt is the second foal out of a winning Frankel mare, the first is by Study Of Man and is in training in Chantilly."
There are also exciting developments on the track, particularly in the case of two-year-old filly Earth Shot. The William Haggas-trained daughter of Time Test was picked up for 90,000gns by Jill Lamb from the Hascombe and Valiant draft at Tattersalls Book 2 last year and made a fine impression when second on debut at Newbury last month.
Earth Shot stayed on well to finish second to 1.7 million guineas Book 1 purchase My Ophelia and she has now received an Irish Oaks entry for next year. There is plenty to look forward to for Childwickbury Stud on that evidence.
