Holy Roman Emperor’s travels means that he has 1,546 foals of racing age scattered across the globe, quite a significant number for a horse who is 14 years old. But such ample firepower naturally translates into greater opportunity and in return, it has to be said that few stallions have been able to compile the breadth of international success as Coolmore’s son of Danehill.

The past weekend was a case in point. Romanised was the popular winner of Saturday’s Irish 2,000 Guineas for Ken Condon on the same day that another representative, Duca Valentinois, took the Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup at Doomben in Australia. Over in Canada, the Irish-bred Conqueror Galactus was the easy winner of his debut for Norman McKnight at the same Woodbine meeting that Bletchley, out of the Holy Roman Emperor mare An Ghalanta, was a fast-finishing second in the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes.

In Britain, Holy Roman Emperor also featured as the damsire of Cecil Frail Stakes winner Classical Times.
