Chuvelo, who was caught in the final strides at Fairyhouse last Sunday, makes another swift public appearance among the 63 lots listed at Friday’s Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale.

Sam Curling can have bright hopes for the Milan full-brother to the Munster National winner Double Seven (lot 23) making an improvement on the €22,000 paid for him last August.

Chuvelo was only beaten by Joseph O’Brien’s bright prospect Uhtred in the Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper at the Fairyhouse Easter meeting.

Last weekend’s Carlisle bumper winner Connective will open the show when the action begins in the the Tattersalls sales arena at 1pm.

Micky Hammond’s representative might have been expected to make a smart Flat horse, being a son of Dubawi, but he was bought unraced by owner Craig Buckingham for £5,500 last year and defied apparent greenness to land a small-field affair in Cumbria on Saturday.

He was one of the late wildcard additions to this event, of which 16 remain. They include a significant amount with recent point-to-point form representing the usual suspects for a National Hunt sale.

Colin Bowe remains a leading operator in the sphere from his Milestone Stables and he has brought Broken Halo (42), a son of Kayf Tara who scored on his debut at Inch a few days ago.

Curling is also selling Red Rookie (52), who was third to Broken Halo, with the runner-up Frisson Collonges (57) having been entered by leading pointing consignor Donnchadh Doyle.

Ballinsker (38) also timed his emergence well over the weekend by coming eight lengths clear at Oldcastle. A Court Cave four-year-old from the family of top-class Flat mare In The Groove, he was picked up for just €11,000 by Michael Goff's Moate Stables.

Denis Murphy’s Grangeclare Native (44), by Shantou and related to such outstanding performers as Mighty Mogul and Ballynagour, could be another to watch after doing his best work at the end to strike under Jamie Codd at Curraghmore on Sunday.

Doyle was responsible for the top lot at last year’s sale when Thatsy was bought for 130,000gns by Aidan O’Ryan and Gordon Elliott.

More expensive purchases from the 2017 renewal have been starting to bear fruit during this jumps season.

They included the 275,000gns top lot Global Citizen, a Grade 2 winner for Ben Pauling and Brewin’upastorm, who justified a tall reputation at Olly Murphy’s yard with high novice placings at Cheltenham and Aintree. Battleoverdoyen, who was claimed for 235,000gns by Elliott, was a Grade 1 winner at Naas before an off-colour effort when sent off favourite for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.
