Queen Du Berlais, who was the star of a four-timer for trainer David Cottin at Auteuil on Sunday, was continuing a remarkable streak for her dam, King's Daughter.

Bred by the prolific Jean-Marc Lucas of Haras du Berlais, the daughter of Muhtathir was replicating the feat of her half-brother, Goliath Du Berlais, in winning the Grade 3 Prix Fleuret for four-year-old chasers.

Given a patient ride by Kevin Nabet, Queen Du Berlais was the last to deliver her challenge and prevailed over Metasequoia to secure a first black-type success and a second win from two attempts over the Auteuil chase course.

She is a third Graded winner for King's Daughter, who was bred by Gerard Samama and won the Grade 3 Prix Bournosienne for Francois Cottin before moving to Robert Collet.

Owned like her full-brother James Du Berlais by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, Queen Du Berlais is by the late Haras du Mezeray stalwart Muhtathir.

A son of Saint Des Saints, Goliath Du Berlais went on from his success in the Fleuret to win the Grade 1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure for trainer Guillaume Macaire and was subsequently retired to stand at Haras de Tuilerie, the National Hunt arm of Haras d'Etreham.

The Ferdinand Dufaure could also be on the agenda for Queen Du Berlais, according to Cottin.

"It's a wonderful family and she is a filly that has taken a little while to strengthen up, a little like her brother James Du Berlais," said Cottin. "He had a fairly ordinary time of it as a three-year-old when you consider the quality he has shown since.

"She has always been a classy filly but last year she lacked that strength. She spent the winter with my father in the country and has developed well. She'll be even better in the autumn but, if she remains in good form, she'll get her chance in the Grade 1."

James Du Berlais was beaten only a short head in the Grade 1 Prix Renaud du Vivier last November on his last run for Collet before being sent to Willie Mullins.

On the evidence of his two star siblings, James Du Berlais - who is still only five - may be a hugely exciting prospect if connections decide to send him chasing in the future.

King's Daughter has three more offspring - all by Saint Des Saints - on the ground, with the three-year-old Daphne Du Berlais in training with Macaire and Hector de Lageneste.
