In landing Leopardstown's Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle, Mighty Potter provided the most significant success to date for a broodmare whose first four foals have proved valuable assets both in and out of the ring.

The six-year-old French Dynamite is the oldest of Matnie's offspring, changing hands for £165,000 to Mags O'Toole on behalf of Brian Acheson's Robcour after winning an Irish point for Donnchadh Doyle.

Graded-placed for Mouse Morris, he was off the mark over fences at Punchestown last month.

He was followed by Blue Bresil half-brother Indianna Jones, who is now with those same connections and has shown some useful form after a €280,000 purchase from Osarus in 2019.

Andrew and Gemma Brown got hold of Mighty Potter, who was bought for €38,000 at Osarus as a foal and withdrawn from last year's Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale by Sluggara Farm.

The son of the late Martaline met with defeat for the first time when an encouraging third in last month's Royal Bond and put his stamp on this latest Grade 1 on the run-in to beat stablemate Three Stripe Life by a length and a half.

The Browns were quick to snap up Mighty Potter's full-brother Aide Memoire, who was also offered by Walter Connors' Sluggara. The three-year-old was the third highest-priced lot at this year's Derby Sale when Joey Logan signed for him at €200,000.

Francois-Marie Cottin has bred the collection out of a mare who was unraced but is a Laveron daughter of Lirfox, a multiple winner both in France and for Martin Pipe and sibling of the Grade 1-placed Aupcharlie.

Cottin has two more in the pipeline from the mare at this stage - a two-year-old filly by Kapgarde and a Doctor Dino colt who was born on March 15.
