Maximum Security dam Lil Indy set to be offered at Keeneland November
Multiple Grade 1 winner's foal half-sister also in the catalogue
Lil Indy, the dam of this year's multiple Grade 1 winner and Kentucky Derby first past the post Maximum Security, will be offered in foal to leading sire Quality Road in the premier Book 1 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale next month.
The foal full-sister to Maximum Security, also by New Year's Day, has also been catalogued for the sale.
Both mother and daughter will be consigned separately by Lane’s End as agent.
"Lil Indy, in foal on one cover to Quality Road, and her weanling full-sister to Maximum Security are special offerings that are keys to future success," said SF Bloodstock's Tom Ryan.
"As the dam of Maximum Security, Lil Indy is a proven producer of a top-class horse. This year, Maximum Security has five triple-digit Beyer numbers – more than any other three-year-old – while he has beaten a number of outstanding horses."
Maximum Security has defeated an array of his crop’s leading performers. In winning the Florida Derby, he conquered Jockey Club Gold Cup and Travers hero Code Of Honor.
In capturing the Haskell Invitational he sailed past multiple Graded stakes winner Mucho Gusto.
Lil Indy is carrying a half-sibling to Maximum Security by Quality Road, a breed-shaping stallion who is among the world’s leading sires with ten Grade 1 winners to his name including champions Abel Tasman and Caledonia Road.
He leads all stallions in 2019 with four Grade 1 winners this year - Bellafina, City of Light, Dunbar Road and Roadster.
Lil Indy is by Anasheed, a Graded stakes-placed son of leading broodmare sire A.P. Indy, and is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner and $3.6 million earner Flat Out.
Lil Indy’s dam is stakes winner Cresta Lil, who became a prolific producer with ten winners from 11 foals. Her extended family includes near-millionaire and Grade 1 winner Got Koko, multiple Graded stakes winner and 23-time winner JT’s Pet and multiple stakes winner Shiny Sheet, who banked more than $500,000.
"Keeneland is excited for the opportunity to offer Lil Indy and her weanling filly," Keeneland vice president of racing and sales Bob Elliston said. "She will be a highly prized addition to any number of the major breeding operations."
Keeneland recently announced that the November Sale would be moved back a day from its original schedule to allow buyers more time to travel to central Kentucky from the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 1-2 at Santa Anita in southern California and inspect horses at the sale.
