Al Jassasiyah, who failed to reach the track after costing an eye-watering 1,500,000gns at Tattersalls Book 1 in 2012, demonstrated her residual value as her first foal Mashael claimed Listed honours at Compiegne on Monday.

The Galileo mare commanded such an astronomical fee as she is out of the blue hen Alluring Park, hence a sister to the Oaks winner Was as well as Al Naamah, who brought in a record-breaking 5 million gns at the same event 12 months later.

That year, Al Jassasiyah’s price was second only to that of Hydrogen, the costly mistake for Qatar Racing.

Both entered the Al Shaqab Racing fold and Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani has retained Al Jassasiyah’s Dubawi foal Mashael, who is in training with Andre Fabre.

The filly ran twice in the spring and broke her duck in a maiden at Clairefontaine in the summer. Stepped up in class for the ten-furlong Prix Charles Laffitte, she showed tenacity under Vincent Cheminaud to come four lengths away from Michael Bell's runner Bighearted.

Her dam has an Olympic Glory two-year-old named Al Andalus in training with Fabre as well as a yearling colt by Le Havre and a Shalaa foal.
