Major new appointment for Gainesway Farm to kickstart the 2020s
Agent Alex Solis recruited as director of bloodstock for Bluegrass operation
Gainesway Farm has announced the appointment of Alex Solis II as director of bloodstock.
Solis has established a top-class reputation as a bloodstock agent, his resume having been further enhanced in 2019 by Kentucky Derby winner Country House and Breeders’ Cup-winning sprinter Covfefe.
Past selections include champion Shared Belief and dual Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Mizdirection. In the past ten years his partnership with Jason Litt at Solis/Litt Bloodstock has advised the purchase of 11 Grade 1 winners, and 46 Graded stakes horses.
“It is an honour to be offered this role,” said Solis. “It brings together my passions of breeding and racing, and I could not be more excited to join the team at Gainesway.”
Antony Beck, the farm’s owner, hailed the recruitment as a perfect start to the new decade.
“It is exciting for a person as accomplished as Alex Solis to join Gainesway Farm as director of bloodstock,” he said.
“Alex is a class act of a human being and his participation will be a great asset - both to Gainesway and to our potential partners - as we expand our stallion roster and racing ventures. I could not be more enthused about the future.”
Solis, whose standing in the industry is measured by a seat on the Breeders’ Cup Board, will continue to advise clients of Solis/Litt Bloodstock, including LNJ Foxwoods, Jim Rome, KMN Racing and NK Racing. But he is thrilled to be opening a new chapter at one of the most storied operations in the Bluegrass, at which Brian Graves is general manager, having been promoted in October.
“I want to thank Antony and Brian for this opportunity, and look forward to utilising my previous experience to help shape the future of Gainesway Farm,” said Solis.
“I will continue to work closely with my team at Solis/Litt as we advise our current clients and we thank them for their support in this new venture.”
