Lord Of England ruling the roost after German Classic father-son double

A wide margin win for Palmas in the 163rd Henkel-Preis der Diana at Dusseldorf on Sunday topped a fine few weeks for Gestut Etzean resident Lord Of England.

The son of Dashing Blade was not only provided with a third individual Group 1 winner but the Classic win had come off the back of his son Isfahan's German Derby strike courtesy of Sisfahan last month.

Lord Of England was bred by Stall Pontresini and won a Listed race in Italy at two before victories in the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis and Group 3 Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft at three.

He retired to Gestut Etzean in 2007 and has since produced 37 stakes performers, including 12 individual Group winners. Three of those have come at the highest level courtesy of Isfahan himself in the Deutsches Derby as well as Feodora and now Palmas and Feodora in what is the German Oaks.

The 18-year-old has sired a handful of runners in Britain, arguably led by the Andrew Balding Classic Lord, a winner at Sandown on his latest start and the holder of a Cazoo St Leger entry next month.

His Etzean-bred Palmas, out of the Listed-placed Peace Time, is a sibling of four black type performers and ten winners including German Group 3 scorer Peaceful Love, Park Hill Stakes runner-up Phiz and the multiple stakes winner Peace Royale, the dam of German 1,000 Guineas second Peace In Motion.

Lord Of England currently stands for a fee of €6,500, while his son, who resides at Gestut Ohlerweiherhof, commands a fee of €4,500.
