Jacob Pritchard Webb to join Auctav as British and Irish representative
The former jump jockey is also aiming to compete at the 2024 Paris Paralympics
Jacob Pritchard Webb, a former jump jockey who had his riding career cut short by a fall that left him paraplegic, has joined the Auctav sales team.
Pritchard Webb, who suffered significant neck and spinal injuries in the accident at Auteuil in June 2020, has previously spoken of his ambitions to work as a bloodstock agent.
He has experience of working with Highflyer Bloodstock and fellow former rider Charlie Poste, who pre-trains and breaks in horses and has point-to-pointers, and will act as British and Irish representative for Auctav, the western France-based outfit whose first sale took place on March 31 last year.
He said: "They are a young and new company that so far have been successful with their concepts of online auctions.
"I believe they have a talented team who source the best horses possible and to be a part of that is brilliant.
"My role at Auctav will be British and Irish representative, whereby I will look to promote the Auctav brand and help develop relationships with potential buyers across those countries."
Pritchard Webb could have another sporting link to France come the 2024 Paris Paralympics, as his zest and talent for table tennis saw him sign up to Team GB's future stars programme.
Auctav's director Arnaud Angéliaume said: "Jacob represents the perfect link with the French market. He is known on both sides of the Channel and is still passionate about horseracing.
"Above all, the whole Auctav team admires the strength of character he showed after the accident. He speaks perfect French and English, and will be an essential asset for us."
