The well-bred filly Pearls had to be euthanised following a fall at Randwick on Monday in the Group 3 handicap Triscay Stakes.

She was travelling in midfield when she came down two furlongs into the sprint contest. The fall left jockey James Doyle with a hairline fracture to his wrist.

Trained by John O'Shea for Godolphin, Pearls won three races, most notably the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes against her own sex at Randwick at three.

Bred by Darley, the daughter of Exceed And Excel is a sister to Helmet and a three-parts sister to Epaulette.

Group 1 winners Helmet and Epaulette are both now on reverse-shuttle duty for Darley, with Helmet standing at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket at £10,000, and Epaulette standing at Kildangan Stud in County Kildare at €7,000.

Pearls is also a half-sister to Group 3 Debonair Stakes scorer Bullbars, while her dam Accessories, a Singspiel half-sister to Group 2 winners Annaba and Pozarica, has also produced a yearling sister to Pearls and a two-year-old in training by Lonhro named Maquilla.
