Dual Champion Stakes hero Twice Over sealed a flying start to his second career on Saturday when Sand And Sea, a member of his debut crop, won the Grade 1 Gold Medallion at Scottsville in impressive fashion.

Trainer Dennis Drier, winning the race for the sixth time in eight years, said: "I said beforehand that this horse knows how good he is, let's just see how good. I'm over the moon; when you get a horse like this you are blessed."

A son of Observatory, Twice Over was trained by Sir Henry Cecil to win four races at the highest level including back-to-back editions of the Champion Stakes as well as the Coral-Eclipse and Juddmonte International.

He retired with 12 victories from 33 starts for owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah and was bought by Freeman Stallions to stand at Klawervlei Stud in South Africa. He represents an elite Juddmonte family, being out of a half-sister to the dam of Timepiece and Passage Of Time from the family of All At Sea.

In April, Twice Over was represented by his first winner when his daughter Lacerta scored on her second start at Kenilworth.
