Thunder Moon made the perfect start to his career as a stallion when he sired a winner from his first runner on Tuesday. His daughter Moondance looked a filly to follow in a maiden over an extended five furlongs at Le Mans as she quickened two and a half lengths clear under Frida Valle Skar.

A son of Zoffany bred by Aidan and Annemarie O’Brien’s Whisperview Trading and trained by their son Joseph, Thunder Moon was a Group 1 winner as a juvenile in the National Stakes and later finished second in the Prix Jean Prat.

He spent three seasons at Haras de Bouquetot and is now one of the founding members of Haras de Castillon, where he stands for €5,000.

Moondance is jointly owned by Michael Kisber and Omar Ghrghar and based with Yann and Carlos Lerner. She is out of Dark Between Stars, a winning daughter of Dark Angel and a half-sister to the Rockfel Stakes winner Al Thakhira.

Offered by Castillon at last year’s Arqana Deauville v2 Yearling Sale, she was knocked down to Mandore International for €51,000.

She is the second foal and first runner out of the mare, who has a yearling colt by Wooded.
